Nicholas Atkin’s path to funeral and cremation preplanning wasn’t something he initially set out to pursue—it’s something he grew into through a career centered on helping people make important life decisions.
With a background in insurance and finance, Nicholas spent the early part of his career helping individuals and families protect what mattered most. But in 2018, after moving to Brigham City with his wife, Cristine, he discovered a deeper calling in funeral preplanning—one that combined financial guidance with emotional support during some of life’s most meaningful moments.
Since then, Nicholas has dedicated himself to serving families with care, clarity, and compassion. He has worked with multiple pre-need organizations, funeral marketing companies, and funeral homes, including serving as an in-house consultant. Today, he partners with Myers Mortuary and several other funeral homes throughout Utah and Idaho, helping families make thoughtful decisions long before the need arises.
Nicholas is a Certified Preplanning Consultant (CPC) through the National Funeral Directors Association—a distinction that reflects both his expertise and his commitment to serving families ethically and compassionately. The certification requires rigorous training, testing, and ongoing education, and for Nicholas, it represents something deeply personal: a promise that the families he serves are in capable, caring hands.
A graduate of Weber State University with a degree in Business Administration and Finance, Nicholas’s journey has included roles in retail management and insurance, where he developed a strong appreciation for preparation and protection. That foundation naturally led him to specialize in funeral insurance, trusts, final expense planning, and traditional life insurance.
But for Nicholas, this work is about much more than policies and plans.
He believes that preplanning is one of the most meaningful gifts a person can give their family—lifting the burden of difficult decisions and replacing uncertainty with peace of mind. He takes pride in walking alongside the families he serves, offering guidance not just financially, but emotionally—before, during, and after the loss of a loved one.
Reflecting on his journey, Nicholas shares:
"Achieving the CPC designation has been one of the biggest milestones in my career. This certification is not just a recognition of knowledge and commitment to best practices; it’s a promise to the families I serve that they are in caring, capable hands. I am deeply proud to be recognized by the NFDA and to uphold the highest standards of service in our profession. I will use this additional knowledge to help more families find peace in preparing for their future."
At the heart of everything Nicholas does is his family. He and his wife, Cristine, have been married since the spring of 2011, and together they are raising their two sons. Much of their free time is spent outdoors—camping under the stars, hiking new trails, riding side-by-sides, and cooking meals together. It’s in these simple, meaningful moments that Nicholas is reminded why planning ahead matters so much.
He is also a longtime member of the Kiwanis International club in Brigham City, where he enjoys giving back to the community—especially in ways that support and uplift local children.
For Nicholas, both his professional work and his personal life are guided by the same belief: taking care of people, planning ahead, and investing in what truly matters can make all the difference.
